• Question: Why is science important when the human race has a sustaniable living why would we need to know more?

      We don’t need more knowledge but it is interesting to know and has potential to improve lives – it is not a necessity but nice to have

      The human race does seem to be doing alright. When you think about the fact that with every billion that we add to our population it takes less time to add the next billion! However, I think there are a lot of things that can be improved. It makes me very upset to think that there are very wealthy nations and other nations where people are starving. Also, there is still a lot of violence in the world and we need to understand why some people become violent. I hope to solve a small part of that with science. I think science can help to make our lives easier so that it’s not just the human race that is sustainable, but individual lives are improved.

      Even if humans were able to live sustainably, we’d still need science to help improve our understanding of natural hazards, find cures for disease, and so on. Scince will have a lot to do to help us to live sustainably as well – from recycling of materials, to energy reduction, to sustainable food production.
