• Question: Why is it so important that we find out about how the universe began?

      To me, I suppose it’s important to know so that we can better predict the direction that the universe is now heading. However, I’m not sure that knowing how the universe began will solve most of society’s current problems. I’m more concerned with how people come to have empathy so that we can be sure that all children develop empathy for others.

      It probably isn’t important – but it’s obviously a fundamental question, to which we don’t know the answer. Of course, on the to finding out the answer, we’ll discover all sorts of things on the way – so of which might even be useful!
