The cornea and the lens together help to focus the light on the retina.

The central part! 😉 The central part of the retina (at the back of the eye) is called the fovea and has the a heavily packed area of cone receptors (photoreceptors), which gives us our sharp colour vision. The more peripheral part is more heavily concentrated with rods, which gives us our more sensitive vision (they are very good motion detectors!).
