I wanted to study the brain, because its a very complex and fascinating organ, and it can be studied on many different levels and with many different methods, which appealed to me. In terms of molecules, learning and memory is the best understood system in the brain, so there is a lot of data to build on (although we are still far from having the whole picture). In the future, I might move on to other questions, like decision-making or language.

Interesting thought. Maybe it’s because it’s inherently difficult to figure out the very thing we use to figure stuff out.
