It didn’t happen until I went to university. One of my professors was a scientist who studied dyslexia. I ended up working with him on a voluntary basis. I loved the science of reading disabilities and trying to discover the root of it. I was basically hooked from then on.

The prospect of finding out new things and being the first to know. Also, the prospect of being paid just for thinking and the working conditions (hours are quite flexible, you get to work abroad if you want to, etc.)

Early inspiration (from home, and a year long stay in Chile when I was 7).. and a continued curiosity to understand the natural world.
