• Question: What do you find so interesting about volcanoes?

      Because we know so little about them.. Why do they form here, but not there? Where did that batch of melt come from, and why? Why was this eruption different from the last one? How long did the molten rock wait before it erupted? When did the melt arrive beneath the volcano? When will it erupt next?

      I know that I will never have all of the answers – but as long as we have questions that we can’t answer about them, volcanoes will remain a source of fascination to me.
