Nuclear power can be better for the earth than virtually all other energy forms if carried out in a safe and controlled way and waste produced is dealt with in a safe, secure manner that will not harm the environment. Safety is always the number one priority within the nuclear industry.

All sources we currently use to produce electricity have their pro’s and con’s, many governments around the world have chosen to build nuclear reactors as a source of power and they have taken into account all factors, including the environmental ones, into account when making these decisions.

Nuclear power is a low carbon source of energy which is a major environmental plus point, it also produces less waste per unit of power produced than many other power sources and the fuel is able to be reprocessed and therefore we are not using up the earths non-renewable resources as quick as we could be doing using power sources such as coal or gas. Therefore nuclear power does have many environmental advantages over other fuel types.
There are environmental dangers, no-one disputes that, but if they are planned for, controlled and managed well there will be no negative impact to the environment.
