• Question: I have eczema and have not grown out of it, will I be stuck with it for the rest of my life? Also why does eczema spread?

Eczema is triggered by different thing e.g. allergies and disease. Some infants have it while their immune system is “sorting itself out” in early life and they grow out of it. The reason why some people get eczema and others don’t or why they don;t grow out of it is not known I’m afraid. You should ask your doctor to refer you to a skin specialist if they haven’t already.

Eczema is caused because the body’s immune system attacks it’s own skin. The attack can spread to other parts as the skins defences weaken on the underside and the “rogue” immune cells attack the skin.
