The prize money can help you by allowing scientists to take some time to share their findings. Hopefully, you will be on the receiving end of this sharing! šŸ™‚

Hopefully these question and answer and chat sessions will have helped you anyway!

Most of the benefit from the prize money will probably go to the next generations of students, but if I am lucky enough to win, I would plan to make podcasts in the field (in Ethiopia or Chile) in early 2012, and would see if we could find a way to involve your school in using these in some science lessons next year.

I will be using it to go to a school and work with the students there on visualising biological molecules. If you happen to be at that school, it means a fun and interesting project for you. But even if you don’t, we might come up with ideas and methods that can then be used outside the project to make biological information easier to understand and more accessible.

Iā€™d like to educate people, especially schoolchildren, on the nuclear industry and try to improve understanding so that everyone knows the issues and can appreciate the benefits provided by the nuclear industry. Sellafield Ltd have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Ambassador programme that encourages employees to interact with the public in events such as this one, I would like to expand and improve this scheme and allow more visits to schools & interactive events educating students on Sellafiedl Ltd and its role within the nuclear industry. The prize money would therefore help students by providing events to improve understanding of the nuclear industry and allow you to make informed opinions on the subject.
