I think it’s a very slim chance that there are other intelligent life forms. Our planet is very lucky to be exactly where it is within our solar system, with a core that has not solidified and so can keep an atmosphere to protect its creatures from the damaging sun. However, I think there may be other life out there in the vast reaches of space.

If you do the sums, then even though the probability is very very small, the universe is so large that it is likely that there is intelligent life elsewhere. But this life might not be based on C-H-O-N as humans are, and life might be adapted to completely different environmental conditions. So would we be able to recognise it?

I’m not even sure there is one 😀

But more seriously, I don’t know. It seems like there are a lot of planets in the universe that would be able to sustain life, so I think it’s quite possible that there is extraterrestrial life. But if you consider how long life has been around on Earth, and what little time humans have been around, it seems like it’s far more likely for life to be “non-intelligent” (whatever that might mean).

I think there must be somewhere because of the sheer enormousness of teh universe but have no idea where or what they might be.
