      I’m not a sociologist, but large groups can make people more aware of their own behaviour. There is research that shows that people generally behave better in groups, but it seems that the picture is complicated since there have been cases of ‘mob mentality’. I think we are just starting to understand how that happens by doing analyses of CCTV footage of fights. This has been done by Mark Levine at Lancaster University. It’s interesting but I don’t know much about it.
